On September 22, “artificial” became the problem. Today, September 29, it became official — executive order, government portal, luncheon. Here’s the story, minus the shouting. (The press adds asterisks. The paperwork is leather-bound.)
An “AI Force” is proposed in Washington, in the spirit of the Space Force. At this point, everyone is still calling it AI.
Public polls ask the internet to pick a new name: superior, extreme, or supreme intelligence. “Super” reportedly wins by a whisker.
At the UN General Assembly, the rebrand goes public:
“The use of the word artificial makes intelligence sound fake. It is not fake. It’s actually amazing.”
“From this point forward, all of United States’ documents … will be changed to use the more accurate term ‘super’ as opposed to ‘artificial’.”
The internet adjusts. Sports Illustrated jokes. Spanish lessons (“sí”). One cartoonist imagines lawyers “scrambling to lock down OpenSI trademarks and web domains.” Domain hoarders notice too: .si registrations reportedly spiked 3,200+ in a single day.
“Super intelligence, or SI. And that’s the official name in the United States. I’ll be signing a very powerful executive order” — and by evening, per reporting, the paperwork exists: a leather-bound order at the launch of America.gov, a government portal branded with Super Intelligence. The White House then hosts a “Meeting and Luncheon on Super Intelligence” with tech’s biggest names. Happy birthday, SI.
“This is not artificial… It’s superior intelligence.” Trump said Tuesday that he plans to sign an executive order to officially change the name of artificial intelligence to “Super Intelligence” (SI) in the United States.

In the research literature, superintelligence is a serious term: a hypothetical mind that outthinks every human who ever lived, in every field, all at once. It has never existed. Many researchers would rather keep the word in the freezer for the real thing.
As of this week, it also means the chatbot in your browser. The literature has opinions.
Experts quoted in the press doubt the new name will stick in the industry — it borrows the prestige of a term researchers reserve for a much bigger leap. The order changes the vocabulary, not the capabilities.
Firm. First committed buyer gets it. “Super intelligence” is officially official as of today, and .rocks is a name tag that agrees with it. Domain shoppers take note: .si registrations reportedly spiked 3,200+ in a single day after the speech — this one’s .rocks, and it’s $2,000.
